I was so excited for Kelsey and Ben’s wedding, especially after their amazing engagement this past fall. Sometimes, I have to help my couples find a connection, a point of chemistry in the moment between all of the chaos and schedules and well-wishers. That just couldn’t be further from the truth with these two.
Kelsey and Ben wed in my favorite wedding season, SPRING! Choosing to have a simple and small ceremony at Shakespeare Garden in Crapo Park in Burlington, Iowa, their reception followed at Pzazz Event Center. Kelsey had told me that while we may not have the most time in the world for photos, they were willing to do whatever I thought necessary to get a killer shot. And boy did we have a muddy adventure. After a torrential downpour on the morning of their wedding, the skies cleared and we were left with the lushness of spring. Not wanting to see each other before their ceremony, the two agreed to hike to a small local waterfall with me. In the silence and damp warmth of the forest, Kelsey + Ben were the definition of a couple that's just madly, deeply in love. I didn't have to direct them at all, they just knew how to put the moves on and ignore me!
Another favorite moment of the day for me was definitely when Kelsey was walking down the aisle and Ben—along with some others--just lost it, seeing his beautiful bride walking towards him. Lastly, I really love this wedding gallery because I had a bridal party that was ready and willing to do some creative shots with me which always makes my heart sing. It’s not every day that you can say to a group “Let’s Abbey Road it!” and they know exactly what should happen. So here’s to Mr. + Mrs. Glancy, to many happy years! Enjoy
