Alyssa + Brock | Elegant Barn Wedding in Adel, Iowa

Adel, Iowa | April 28th, 2018

Hey friends! Long time no blog! Yes, I am back from the dead and determined to blog all the lovely weddings that I have shot all over the Midwest this summer. Better late than never, right?

First up, Brock and Alyssa's elegant wedding at a rustic barn venue near Des Moines, Iowa!

You guys remember Brock and Alyssa right? We froze our butts off together in the snow in December for their engagement session but happily we did not have the same frost-bitten toes on their wedding day. I just have to say, when you pick a venue that's all inclusive like The Barnes Place it can really make the whole day a little smoother and more relaxed and for those reasons, I'm a fan!

The day was a flood of sunshine, breezes and lots of heartfelt details that reflected perfectly the love of adventure and simplicity the couple shares. Looking through these images again as I blogged this, I'm hoping rose gold and lush garlands of greenery on family style tables will never go out of style.

There were so many highlights of this day, including an emotionally charged ceremony where Brock saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle and the parents of the couple stood up and prayed for them. Another was when Brock danced with his mom later on in the night--the song was from Tarzan and yes, I was a hot mess of emotions. Who gave them permission to use Phil Collin's You'll be in my Heart in that beautiful way?? Another memorable moment was when we attempted the "Dirty Dancing" lift (don't ask questions, just scroll).

As you can see, I was basically working with model material all day long so I was loving all of these photos but I am so beyond happy that Brock and Alyssa trusted me to whisk them away from their party for 15 minutes for some gorgeous sunset portraits. It was lovely to enjoy the view, the sun and most importantly I think, one another. Wedding days are crazy. They are fun. They are emotional. And they are long. It's so wonderful and needed to just take a moment (or 10) and just breath with your new spouse. Take it in. Realize you did it. Enjoy. And that's exactly what these two made time for and the photos speak for themselves.

Okay, before I ramble, just see for yourself. Enjoy!
