There were so many highlights of this day, including an emotionally charged ceremony where Brock saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle and the parents of the couple stood up and prayed for them. Another was when Brock danced with his mom later on in the night--the song was from Tarzan and yes, I was a hot mess of emotions. Who gave them permission to use Phil Collin's You'll be in my Heart in that beautiful way?? Another memorable moment was when we attempted the "Dirty Dancing" lift…Read More
Alec + Maddie’s wedding was on a perfect and long awaited day. When I think about their wedding I think about warmth and bright and lots of happy tears. The two wed in Burlington, Iowa, the place they had met as kids when Alec was just the cute older guy who was friend’s with Maddie’s brother. Fast forward many years later, the two reconnected and have been....Read More
Kara and Jacob’s wedding day in early June was bright, warm, not crazy humid (what, is this Iowa?) and above all, happy.

It’s an amazing opportunity to just...Read More
I was so excited for Kelsey and Ben’s wedding, especially after their amazing engagement this past fall. Sometimes, I have to help my couples find a connection, a point of chemistry in the moment between all of the chaos and schedules and well-wishers. That just couldn’t be further from the truth with these two. The two wed in my favorite wedding season, SPRING! Choosing to have a simple and small ceremony at...
I met Jessica and Nate for the very first time at Geode State Park for their engagement session in March. It was super cold but my first impression of these two was their cheerful warmth not just towards one another but towards me and any new adventure as well. I love it when couples really make engagements their own and Jessica and Nate really did. We incorporated the competitive (yet loving) nature of their courtship by playing their favorite games--which I think Jessica won--and a blanket from Truman University where they met. The most memorable and laugh out loud part of this session for me was when I asked them to run towards me--I completely forgot that these two were athletes and highly competitive ones at that. So what I thought was going to be... (read more)Read More
