SUMMER WEDDING AT DES MOINES BOTANICAL GARDEN

If you’ve ever wondered if a city wedding can give you all of the outdoor and nature-y vibes the simple answer is: YES AND HERE ARE LOTS OF PHOTOS TO PROVE IT!

Haha but really, Brad + Janette had the most lovely intimate wedding at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden on a gorgeous September day featuring a sunset ceremony in front of a waterfall and dinner and dancing by the river under the stars. Yep, swoon!

First I went and saw the beautiful bride at her downtown hotel and then we scurried over to the Botanical Garden. After a simple and private first look, Janette + Brad joined their bridal party for some glorious lit photos (yes, I love summer sun!) and then my assistant and I whisked them away for some more intimate portraits under a willow and through the lush grounds of the garden. I felt for a second that I was definitely not in Iowa with all the amazing varieties that the center has cultivated. Sometimes I can feel like I don’t have a lot of options for portraits at wedding venues but that is so not an issue here which puts it high on my list of recommendations for future couples (hint hint!)

Dinner was perfectly timed at sunset, with a beautiful breeze flowing from the Des Moines river. The party was so fun and lively for such a small guest list and the main credit for this goes to the DJ, Dennis from DAS Entertainment; this guy is the real deal and I love working with him! One of my favorite details of the day was the color scheme of the bridesmaids dresses and the gorgeous flowers provided by English Rose, I felt like it brought the whole elegant and slightly boho aesthetic of the day together.
