BOULDER COLORADO ENGAGEMENT SESSION WITH DOG

Lizzy + Sam - Boulder, CO

Guess how I connected with Lizzy + Sam and their upcoming wedding plans?? INSTAGRAM! Yeah, as much as I love to complain about social media, it is truly the best sometimes! I love how it shrinks the world and brought this little Iowa-living girl to the mountains for their love story!

As always, when it came time to plan their engagement session, I just asked Lizzy and Sam what they like to do—a few things stood out: they like to hike, they like beer and they REALLY like their dog! Okay, easiest decision ever, lets hike and drink beer and hang out as a fam!

But what wasn’t an easy choice was figuring out a locaiton—when you live in a scenic state like Colorado it can be hard to choose a spot to take photos — cause spoiler alert the whole dang state is BEAUTIFUL! So we picked a spot that was local and familiar to Lizzy in Sam in Boulder, the South Mesa Trailhead.

It was the perfect easy hike to include their fur babe Remi (who I now worship, FYI he has an Insta, you are welcome) and let us adapt easily when Colorado decided to pour down rain one minute and shine through with sun the next.

Sometimes I’m torn about wether I want perfectly even, overcast light for a session or blazing sun OR no light at all and just work at night—well all THREE of my wishes came true on this serendipitous day last July! After romping around on the trail, we headed into Westminster to Kokopelli Brewing Co where they have a dog friendly patio, great beer and awesome pizza. We shared a pint and took a few more photos but overall this time just felt like a great punctuation on a fun hang out time I got to have with new friends! Can’t wait for Sam and Lizzy’s big day coming up this summer and loving these memories and photos forever and ever. Enjoy!
