AMERICANA COUNTRY FARM WEDDING IN ILLINOIS
So, you know how life is crazy right now?? YEAH! But being at home more and helping my couples plan smaller and more unique celebrations in response to COVID-19 has really got me thinking! It got me thinking about one of the homiest weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph—the country chic Americana wedding of Kate and Brad which was held on their farm in Illinois!
I just have to say first that Kate and Brad are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. I think Kate and I met on Facebook like 4 years ago because I liked some random comment of hers and life taking strange turns as it does, a few years later we were talking wedding plans, shooting their engagement session and just having a blast.
A lot of people have country-style weddings. A lot of people like that rustic look or get married at a perfectly manicured farm venue—but Kate and Brad’s country celebration was the REAL DEAL! The photo you see above is of them on their front porch on their very own farm which doubles as an animal sanctuary (yep, there are pics of cute goats ahead!!). There are pastures, barns, sheds, trucks, tractors, feed, manure—all the things that make up a real, thriving farm. There’s nothing wrong with wedding venues in the rustic style but I just love love love photographing special feelings in special places and there’s not many places more special than your home in my mind!
Kate is basically a creative, design and fashion maven as well so not only was it a beautiful day full of lots of love, sun and laughter but the decor of their reception they hosted in their barn was next level unique and amazing.
Highlights of the day for me looking back include Kate’s first look with her dad, Brad and Kate driving to their farm on their John Deere tractor (hashtag iconic) and their first dance later in the night because these two, beyond being ridiculously good looking are also like, great dancers?? Which doesn’t really seem fair to the rest of us but I love them so much so I’m letting it go.
If you don’t have the urge to put on some boots and brush up on your high school line dancing skills or at least some baby goat fever after looking at these photos, I feel bad for you.
Thank you Kate and Brad for trusting me with your AMAZING day!
